The American dental company Young Innovations is not only globally present with its products, but for decades has been engaged in social projects all over the world. Social responsibility is part of the firm's philosophy - and not just at Christmas time.

Most prominent among those provided with long-term support have been certified organisations such as the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Oral Cancer Foundation and the "Give Kids a Smile" initiative. It provides underprivileged children with a comprehensive package of free dental care, from prevention to restoration. Since 2002, more than five million patients have been treated. Young Innovation provides this and other groups with material and financial support, as well as grants for training professionals such as dental hygienists.

Young Innovations' employees also actively take part in social projects. Thus, for the past seven years, it is not only the usual dental products that the European logistics centre has been dispatching but also Christmas packages for African children, full of presents donated by employees.

Disadvantaged children are also reached by the "Back to School" project. At the start of the school year, children's school bags are equipped with essential utensils such as pens and exercise books - as well as small extras like toys, toothbrushes and toothpaste. In addition, a team of dental hygienists visit selected schools and orphanages around the world. The children receive a free professional dental cleaning session, including fluoridation and sealants, and are taught how to look after their teeth.
