The charities are seeking 1000 dental practices or companies to each raise £100. This can be done by organising a fundraising event, having a collection box in a practice, making a one-off donation or doing a sponsored challenge.
All the money will be shared equally between Bridge2Aid and Dentaid and fund their projects, helping more people access dental care around the world. Both charities work in communities where people are suffering due to insufficient access to safe sustainable dental treatment.
“To many of us in the British dental industry £100 might not seem like a great deal of money but to people living in communities where there is insufficient access to dental care it can make an enormous difference,” said Andy Evans, CEO of Dentaid. “We see the 1000 Smiles Appeal as a great way of getting practices to engage with their patients. We want everyone to know there are millions of people around the world whose lives are blighted by dental pain and by signing up to the appeal they can help us to offer them safe, pain relieving dental care that will change their lives.”
Shaenna Loughnane, CEO of Bridge2Aid, said, “At Bridge2Aid we’ve always been big believers in the power of community – if we each contribute what we can then we create massive positive changes. That was the idea behind 1000 Smiles – that we can do incredible things together, and we’d love your support.”
