General Dental Practitioner Tim Harker was today announced as the newest member of the British Dental Association’s Principal Executive Committee (PEC).

Harker won a by-election for the Wales seat on the BDA’s governing body. The by-election was triggered by the decision of Stuart Johnston to retire earlier this year.

A practice owner for over 25 years, Harker is a former Chairman of Gwent Local Dental Committee and currently serves on the BDA’s Welsh Dental Practice Committee. He also acts as Treasurer for the annual LDC conference. Harker has been a Foundation Trainer for the past seven years. His practice in Cwmbran, Gwent, holds NHS contracts for general dentistry and orthodontics, as well as a list of private patients.

Commenting on his election Harker said:

“I am delighted to have been elected to the BDA’s Principal Executive Committee and wish to thank the many dentists across Wales who voted in the by-election. I am passionate about the future of dentistry and I will make sure the PEC is aware of the implications of its decisions in Wales as well as the rest of the UK.”
