The initiative teaches children the importance of proper oral hygiene and helps develop good dental habits.
The dental provider teamed up with media students from the college to produce a video that is targeted at teachers and schools to explain how a supervised toothbrushing programme can work effectively in a school setting.
The video is supported by two additional films showcasing success stories of schools that have implemented the programme, as well as a parent testimonial, highlighting the positive impact it has had on their children's oral health.
Jennifer Baitup, strategic oral health lead at CDS, said, “CDS delivers supervised toothbrushing programmes throughout Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Norfolk and Waveney, Essex, Suffolk and Slough. Teaching children how to clean their teeth and be mindful of sugar consumption has helped to instil better oral health from a young age, thus reducing the risk of dental issues in the future.
“We were delighted to open a working partnership with students from Boston College. They showed maturity, creativity and a fantastic work ethic and we thank them for their hard work supporting our project.
“Thank you to St Nicholas CofE Primary Academy for accommodating the filming and to its teachers, parents and wonderful pupils who were superstars.”
Dan Thompson, lecturer in film and media studies at Boston College, said, "We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work on this project. It has provided our students with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to develop practical skills in real-world scenarios. Collaborating in a professional environment has boosted their confidence, preparing them for future careers in the media industry."
