Every final-year Dental and Dental Therapy student passed their exams on the first attempt.
When such a success occurs, the dean of the school is presented with a pair of white gloves on behalf of the graduating class, part of a long-standing tradition in the field. It is the first white glove year at Dundee since 2019 and only the seventh time since the turn of the century.
It will also be the first such presentation for the current dean, Philip Preshaw, who joined Dundee in 2021.
Philip said, “The presentation of white gloves is a tremendous honour for a dean, but it is ultimately a testament to the hard work and abilities of the students and staff of the School of Dentistry.
“Traditions such as this are part of what makes this field of study so wonderful to be a part of, and the presentation will act as a reminder of a truly exceptional year.
“Just last month we were named the top university for dentistry in the UK for the second consecutive year. Having a white glove year on top of that achievement further demonstrates why we are the best at what we do.
“On behalf of the entire School of Dentistry, I wish our new graduates the very best of success in their careers.”
This year’s Dentistry and Dental Therapy graduates will form part of four days of celebration at the Caird Hall, where thousands of students will cross the famous stage to collect their qualifications.
