Penzance dentist publishes autobiography

Volume 31 · Issue 6

If you're a fan of cave dwelling, starvation diets, Chinese culture or simply the absurdities of human existence, then this might be the book you've been waiting for - and it’s written by dentist Michael Adams, a principal dentist at the Bay Dental Practice in Penzance.

Not many dentists write an autobiography but the Bay Dental Practice is proud to have one of this rare species as a leading team member. Michael Adams  has put the finishing touches to his book, One man, one pan and can now be described him as a dentist and author.

His book is about the time he spent in China as a young man. The stories of his travels, friends, colleagues and patients are fascinating because he was there at a time when China was alien to Westerners.

As China has opened its doors to the outside world, Michael has realised that the contrast between then and now is a subject worthy of exploration. He decided to write a book detailing his experiences.

He first went there on a pot-holing expedition more than 30 years ago with a friend. They didn’t have a clear idea of where they would go, just an instinct for an area on a map that looked promising. They turned up at the archaeology department of the local university and asked for help – and they got it!
