Henry Schein Dental UK, a leading provider of health care products and services to office-based dental practitioners in the UK, partnered with the International College of Dentists (ICD) and showcased its latest products and services at the 62nd European Meeting of the ICD’s European Section that took place at the Royal Horseguards Hotel, London, on June 14-18, 2017.

Henry Schein supported the annual meeting as diamond sponsor. At the 62nd Annual Meeting of the European ICD Section, the company also presented dental and laboratory products and services under the umbrella of the Henry Schein ConnectDental brand. Henry Schein ConnectDental helps practitioners navigate through their journey into digital dentistry – from offering a wide choice of trusted digital solutions, to seamless integration of these solutions into the practice or laboratory, to the education, training and support needed to enable practice success and the best patient experience. In addition, the company showcased its Dental Business Solutions portfolio. Through Dental Business Solutions, the company provides a comprehensive and wide selection of solutions for dental professionals that are designed to improve the daily workflow and management of practices and laboratories. The suite of solutions is based on three key elements – consulting, training and growth.

The International College of Dentists (ICD) is a leading international honor society for dentists. Conceived in 1920, the college has members in 122 countries who have been awarded the prestigious title of fellow. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation only. A nominated dentist must pass a rigorous peer review process leading to the recognition of the individual’s “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind”.

In addition to the diamond sponsorship, Henry Schein agreed to support the ICD’s Global Visionary Fund (GVF), a charitable fund created by the council for the purpose of collecting and distributing monies in support of initiatives in dental education and humanitarian oral health care. In time, the fund will allow the council to respond to requests from ICD fellows and other volunteers for financial assistance with their charitable works around the world, especially those of the ICD regions. Just recently, Henry Schein Dental UK announced the support of the ICD’s GVF backed missions of ‘Dentistry for Every Village’ in the Philippines, the ‘Tharaka Smile’ in Kenya and the ‘M.E.R.G.E.D’ Ethiopia outreaches, as well as supported ‘Healthserve’ to install and run a dental clinic for disadvantaged people in Singapore. The company currently prepares a product donation for ‘Project Musoma’ in Tanzania.

The ICD Global Visionary Fund support is part of Henry Schein Cares, the company’s global corporate social responsibility program. Henry Schein Cares stands on four pillars: engaging Team Schein Members to reach their potential, ensuring accountability by extending ethical business practices to all levels within Henry Schein, promoting environmental sustainability and expanding access to health care for underserved and at-risk communities around the world. Health care activities supported by Henry Schein Cares focus on three main areas: advancing wellness, building capacity in the delivery of health care services and assisting in emergency preparedness and relief.
