Bringing together stakeholders and policymakers, the Westminster Health Forum will be holding ‘Next steps for dentistry and oral health: regulation, prevention and dental contract reform’ in Central London on July 5. The conference will be a timely opportunity to assess the next steps for dentistry and oral health.

Following findings from new dental contract prototypes launched this autumn, delegates and speakers will discuss key issues in dental contract reform, and wider questions surrounding professional and clinical regulation.

Further planned sessions will look at priorities for prevention in light of the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition’s (SACN) report on sugar consumption, challenges for regulating dental care - including CQC’s new inspection regime for dental practices - and ensuring that premises are fit for purpose and reflect local need.

We are delighted to include at this seminar keynote addresses from Sara Hurley, chief dental officer, NHS England; Stephen Fayle, consultant and honorary senior clinical lecturer in paediatric dentistry, Leeds Dental Institute UK and past president, British Society of Paediatric Dentistry; Matthew Hill, director of strategy, General Dental Council; Elizabeth Jones, dean of postgraduate dentistry, Health Education England; Henrik Overgaard-Nielsen, chair, General Dental Practice Committee, British Dental Association; Sandra White, director of dental public health, Public Health England and Janet Williamson, deputy chief inspector of General Practice and Dentistry, CQC.

Jacob Lant, head of policy and partnerships, Healthwatch England and member, Regulation of Dental Services Programme Board has also agreed to speak.

Lord Colwyn, vice chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group for Dentistry and Oral Health has kindly agreed to chair a session at this seminar.
