The new MSc covers topics including evidence-based dentistry, online literature research, tooth anatomy, endodontic educational tools, use of surgical microscopes, and digital photography.
Students can also experience a different technology for mechanical root canal shaping and the ‘Thermafill’ root canal obturation technique.
The programme is delivered by leading professionals, academics and researchers in the field of endodontic dentistry, and supported by respected academics from the field of continuing professional development.
Course director Liviu Steier said: ‘Endodontics is one of the most technically challenging aspects of general dental practice. The demand for endodontic care is set to grow due to increasing life expectancy combined with greater awareness amongst the general public that diseased teeth can often be saved rather than extracted. Despite this, most general practitioners are unable to use the new techniques that have developed dramatically during the last 20 years, and lack the knowledge and skills to offer their patients appropriate endodontic care. Our programme will enrich knowledge using evidence and introduce students to technologies, instruments and materials available on the market.’
