DentistryForYou is set to open two new dental surgeries in Portsmouth to address patient access issues.
The group has been chosen as the preferred bidder for NHS services and is working closely with NHS England to cater to the oral health needs of the local community. DentistryForYou operates 14 practices across London, Essex, East Sussex and Norfolk.
Data from May 2022 collated by the Association of Dental Groups identified a list of 20 “dental deserts” across the country. Portsmouth was ranked seventh on this list, with 42 dentists per 100,00 people.
DentistryForYou Portsmouth is under construction.
Speaking to HampshireLive, Liz Fernandez, group manager, said, “We're committed to the NHS, and we believe everyone is entitled to NHS treatment - some people simply cannot afford private dental treatment. I've worked in DentistryForYou for over 30 years and we are very passionate about NHS Dentistry.
"There was a real shortfall in the area and we were inundated with calls straight away. Registrations went crazy with around 3,000 calls in the first five days.
"We invite the local community to our opening at the beautiful building at the retail park near Binnacle Way in April."
