Ripple provides a crisis intervention for individuals searching online for self-harm or suicide-related content. It interrupts harmful searches with a powerful visual prompt, offering a message of hope and signposting to 24/7 mental health services.
The tool, which has recently expanded its capabilities to cover a broader range of mental health conditions and life challenges (including substance misuse, financial struggles, eating disorders and domestic abuse), is a proactive step towards bridging the gap between online behaviour and real-world help.
With over 1.9m active users worldwide and intercepting over 100,000 harmful online searches to date, the technology has already made a significant impact. As a result of the partnership with Agilio, Ripple is extending its reach into healthcare sectors where suicide rates are disproportionately high, with one in three dentists having contemplated suicide at some point in their career, according to the British Dental Journal.
The partnership champions a practical, early intervention approach to mental health. Through increased awareness, shared resources and simple steps like installing the Ripple tool, healthcare organisations can help to foster a culture of safety and support for colleagues at risk.
Wellbeing in healthcare
The collaboration forms part of Agilio’s wider commitment to innovation and supporting the wellbeing of healthcare professionals. By reducing stress, preventing burnout and easing the pressures of day-to-day operations, Agilio’s software solutions aim to help teams across the sector focus on what matters most – delivering outstanding care.
Alice Hendy, CEO and founder of Ripple, said, “Our partnership with Agilio Software empowers us to focus our efforts on high-risk areas of healthcare, ensuring we can provide critical support to those who need it most and make a lasting impact on mental health for as many individuals as possible.
“We are grateful to the team at Agilio for being so supportive of our work, and we’re excited to continue our meaningful collaboration together long into the future.”
Nikki Berryman, community engagement and employee wellbeing officer at Agilio Software, said,
“Agilio Software is honoured to partner with Ripple Online Safety, an organisation dedicated to creating a safer online environment by protecting individuals from harmful content linked to self-harm and suicide.
“Our commitment aligns with Ripple's mission to combat the stigma surrounding mental health and provide essential resources for those at risk. As part of this, we have implemented the tool across our own organisation to safeguard the wellbeing of our staff. In parallel, by supporting Ripple’s wider initiatives, we are helping to raise awareness and empower healthcare communities to take proactive steps in supporting those in need.”
Agilio will also be hosting a live webinar on May 7, 2025, at 1pm titled Supporting workplace mental health and suicide prevention: my brother’s legacy. Led by Alice, the session draws on her lived experience after tragically losing her brother, Josh, to suicide in 2020 at the age of 21. His story is sadly not unique. Each month, an estimated 1.2m online searches are linked to suicide globally, underscoring the urgent need for preventative action.
The webinar will explore how healthcare organisations can create safer, more supportive environments through practical steps and awareness.
A worthy cause
Agilio Software will also be participating in the Peak District Ultra Challenge in support of Ripple Suicide Prevention Charity. More than 40 Agilio colleagues across all divisions will take on distances ranging from 10 to 62 miles across two days to raise funds and awareness for Ripple’s lifesaving work.
According to Agilio, the partnership marks a meaningful step forward in mental health support within the healthcare community and highlights the role of innovation, collaboration and compassion in saving lives. Agilio has called on healthcare organisations to install Ripple across their networks – a simple yet potentially life-saving step that can be completed in just minutes.
