Mervyn Druian, co-founder of The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry has become the honoured International President of the Alpha Omega Dental Society for 2017.

Mervyn is only the second European in the society’s 110 year history ever to be bestowed with this accolade and in the words of the Alpha Omega Society it is: “In recognition of his devoted service as chairman of the London Chapter, as a member of the Charitable Trust, as a past international director and of his lifelong commitment to promoting the tenets of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity: fraternalism, professionalism and commitment to Judaic values.”

Omer K Reed, dental pioneer and Mervin’s mentor, was in attendance to see him honoured and Mervyn commented: “I believe we, as dentists, belong to one of the luckiest professions. When people ask what one gets out of Alpha Omega, I smile. I think of the friendships local, national and international. I think of the philanthropy in the past, in the present and what will be done in the future.” As President 2017, Mervyn and his wife Andy will be championing two philanthropic causes, both child related. The charities are Shalva and Aleh. Both charities are for children with disabilities and are dedicated to providing quality care and support, education and promoting social change.

In the dental industry for over 30 years, Mervyn Druian is a true visionary and leader in his profession; always striving to give his patients the best, he is well known for his ground breaking treatments and techniques. In 1983, he became the first UK dentist to introduce the practice of porcelain veneers and, in 1990, he was the first to bring to the UK a power tooth whitening system. Since then, Mervyn’s cosmetic and aesthetic work has become world renowned and he frequently lectures and teaches around the world. Not only is Mervyn recognised by his peers as one of the foremost innovators, but he is often heralded by beauty editors as “the leading expert in cosmetic dentistry.” He was the principle dentist on Extreme Makeovers UK, X Factor’s official dentist in 2009, and he frequently works with the casts of Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model and Made in Chelsea.

The Alpha Omega International Dental Society is the oldest international medical organisation and was founded in 1907, at the University of Maryland School of Dental Medicine. The Alpha Omega international community comprises over 6,000 members worldwide and is internationally recognised for its charity work and dental education, especially the founding of Israel’s two dental schools and the Holocaust Survivors Programme. By increasing Holocaust survivors’ access to oral care, the programme seeks to significantly enhance their overall quality of life.
