New executive director of Osteology Foundation

After the careful evaluation of several candidates, the executive board selected Kristian Tersar as new executive director of the Osteology Foundation. He has already served ad-interim in this function after former executive director Kay Horsch left the foundation in January this year. From June 1 2017, he has officially taken over the lead of the Osteology Foundation’s office.

“As an executive director who acts strategically and thinks proactively, I would like to use my expertise to support, together with the Osteology Office Team members, the continued growth of the Osteology Foundation on a global level and, in particular, developing the educational activities,” Kristian said on the occasion of his appointment.

He explained further, “My motivation is to offer the foundation board an optimum platform for the leadership and continued development of the foundation in all of its fields of activity – research funding, global continuing education and development of educational contents and tools. Moreover, I want to continue the relationship of trust for long-term collaboration with our global osteology network as well as the donors.”

Announcing Tersar’s appointment as executive director, Mariano Sanz, president of the Osteology Foundation, said on behalf of the executive board, as well as the whole Osteology Foundation board, “We believe that, with Kristian Tersar, we have found the perfect person for this position. He has the right mind-set, plenty of experience and is very well connected with researchers and clinicians in the field of oral tissue regeneration. Together with him we are looking forward to bring the Osteology Foundation forward and to following our mission and vision to link all people working in oral regeneration together, with the aim to advance research and education in this field and to provide better treatment for the benefit of all patients worldwide.”

Tersar studied chemical technology and biology in Darmstadt, Frankfurt, and in Heidelberg. He holds a diploma in neurobiology from the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, Frankfurt a.M., where he was working on neuronal path finding, and received a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich, working on Myotubularins involved in Charcot-Marie-Tooth diseases, understanding their involvement in peripheral nerve regeneration. Since 2008, Kristian Tersar has been working as scientific and education project manager for the Osteology Foundation and has thereby contributed significantly to its development and growth.
