The Dental Nursing apprenticeship was one of the 56 newly approved standards announced by the Government on 12 March.

This is particularly exciting for the dental industry, as the brand new apprenticeship will soon become available to businesses, as well as apprenticeships for dental technicians, dental laboratory assistants and dental practice managers.

Extensively backed by Mustafa Mohamed (owner and founder of Sparkle Dental Labs and Genix Healthcare and chair of the Dental Trailblazer project in Dental Health)  the apprenticeships have the potential to benefit individuals, businesses, the dental sector and the UK economy.

The programmes will create new jobs and help retain more work within the country, while also giving young people the opportunity to earn as they learn, building up essential knowledge and experience to enable them to become experts in their chosen field.

Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “Apprenticeships play a key role in the success of our long term economic plan and, with more than 2m apprenticeships started since 2010, I am proud to say our reforms are delivering for businesses and young people.”
