To mark the BASCD and BSODR’s 50th and 70th anniversaries, they are hosting webinars featuring rising stars in the field.

To mark the BASCD and BSODR’s 50th and 70th anniversaries, they are hosting webinars featuring rising stars in the field.

The webinars will focus on behavioural science’s contribution to dentistry and will be held on April 21, 2023, 10am to 12:45pm.

Sarah Baker, professor of Psychology from the University of Sheffield, has been confirmed as its guiding star speaker. Her topic will be Are we there yet? The contribution of social and behavioural sciences to oral health.

The programme will also include rising stars recognised by both societies as building their careers in the field of applying behavioural sciences to dentistry:

  • Anwen Cope - Insights into the barriers to risk-based recall intervals in general dental practice
  • Martha Paisi - Am I worth it?” The nexus of oral and mental health in homelessness
  • Rachael England - Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on adult oral hygiene behaviours and access to oral healthcare
  • James Bird - Quality of life of those living with disabilities
