The management of sleep disorders is a rapidly developing branch of healthcare, and of interest to a growing number of dentists – including those newly qualified.
The British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (BSDSM) is holding its popular introductory course for dentists and dental technicians called 'The Management of Snoring and Sleep Apnoea in Dental Practice' on Saturday, July 18, in Oxford. This course enables you to introduce dental sleep medicine in your practice or laboratory and there is a special discount for Foundation Dentists.
The one day course includes:
• An overview of sleep disordered breathing with special reference to the association of obstructive sleep apnoea and snoring.
• An explanation of how oral appliances work with an overview of custom and non-custom devices.
• How to safely assess and monitor patients.
• Practical advice on introducing a dental sleep medicine service into your practice or laboratory
• Hands-on experience practicing protrusive registration, fitting a selection of custom mandibular advancement appliances, together with an appliance evaluation group discussion.
The BSDSM Management of Snoring and Sleep Apnoea in Dental Practice course is on Saturday, July 18, at The Oxford Hotel, Godstow Road, Oxford OX2 8AL. It runs from 9.30am to 5.30pm and qualifies for six hours of verifiable CPD.
The cost is £298 for BSDSM members and £350 for non-members.
