Taking place from September 2 to September 6 2014, members of Straumann UK will join loyal customers to collectively unite for a charitable challenge by traveling through five European countries through, which will present many challenging obstacles and conditions.
In an aim to raise funds for The Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) and Bridge2Aid, the challenging route will include one of the most iconic routes through the Stelvio Pass with a climb of over 9000 feet, one of the highest paved mountain passes in the Eastern Alps of Northern Italy.
Both charities work to provide help and support to those in need. CLAPA provides support for all those with and affected by cleft lip and palate. It also runs confidence-building camps for children and distributes bottles and teats for babies born with the condition. Bridge2Aid delivers dental care, education and training programmes in Tanzania, and run a community development programme for those living on the streets of Mwanza.
Commenting on the impact of Straumann’s collective contribution last year, Louise Wheeler, Community Fundraising Manager from CLAPA noted,
“The amazing amount that Team Straumann raised last year meant that CLAPA could continue to offer it’s full range of services which include: supplying specialised feeding packs, developing support for children and adolescents in the form of residential weekends and a youth council, and running specialist services for parents and health professionals to help them offer the best care possible for children and babies affected by cleft. We wish them all the best with their challenge and can’t wait to hear all about how it goes! Good luck!”
