He received the award during a ceremony at the In and Out Naval and Military Club in London, on November 20, 2024.
Mustafa was honoured for the support he offered to the Republic of San Marino during the Covid-19 pandemic, and for his endeavours to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the UK and San Marino.
The republic recognised Mustafa’s achievements as the co-chair of Ability2Win, the campaign aimed at improving the representation of disabled people in the UK, at all levels of political life.
The republic said Mustafa has tirelessly campaigned for ‘top-down’ change to help increase the representation of people with disabilities in politics and in doing so, has brought about positive change to the lives of disabled people.
The Equestrian Order of Saint Agatha is awarded to foreign nationals who have made significant and positive contributions through charitable endeavours or outstanding civil or military services to the republic. It is also awarded for humanitarian, artistic, political, or sporting accomplishments.
Mustafa was also awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Bolton in 2017, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of dental healthcare education.
