Dental radiography student Chrissie, aged 25 and from Clanfield, was selected by campaign organisers, the Oral Health Foundation, because of her beaming smile and passion to provide the best care for her patients.
Chrissie, who has also recently qualified as a dental nurse and works at Waterlooville Orthodontic Practice on Stakes Hill Road in Waterlooville, was nominated for the award by her colleague Jennifer Hutchings.
Speaking of her colleague and friend, Jennifer said, “I wanted to nominate Chrissie because she has the most infectious smile and always manages to bring joy to others, even on the gloomy days at work!
“She is always smiling and lifting the spirits of those around her, whether it’s the people she works with or the patients that walk through the door of our practice.”
In her nomination, Jennifer talks fondly about how Chrissie has been a reassuring presence at their practice since she started, “Colleagues have always said that she’s got an infectious smile that lights up the room, which makes her fun to work with.
“She can instantly put my patients at ease and that brings a reassuring comfort to me and the rest of the team.”
Nominate A Smile is a key part of National Smile Month, a charity campaign to promote good oral health, and sets out to find special people with smiles that have the power to life all those around them.
Nigel Carter, CEO of the Oral Health Foundation, said, “Chrissie’s positive and bubbly personality is helping to build relationships with thousands of people walking into the practice, making them feel at ease.
“This is particularly important for those who are nervous or apprehensive about visiting their local dental team.
“Chrissie’s dedication and attitude to caring for her patients and making them feel comfortable is one to be admired and celebrated which is why we are so pleased to announce her as our latest winner during National Smile Month.”
Running until June 14, National Smile Month communicates the importance of good oral health and what everybody can do to achieve a healthy mouth.
The Oral Health Foundation wants to encourage more people to brush their teeth last thing at night and at one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste.
During National Smile Month, the charity is also keen to highlight the importance of cutting down on how much and how often people have sugary foods and drinks, as well as encouraging regular dental visits.
