A new NHS dental practice has opened in Giffnock after receiving a funding package of £420,000 from Royal Bank of Scotland and Lombard.

Located in a former GP surgery on Fenwick Road, Giffnock Village Dental is owned and managed by Philip Larmour. It is the first practice in the area to offer dentistry on the NHS, in addition to private services.

Initial funding was provided by Royal Bank of Scotland to help purchase the premises formally known as the Giffnock Medical Centre. An additional amount was provided by leasing and asset finance provider, Lombard, to allow Philip and his team to extensively refurbish the old surgery.

Since opening in November 2016, more than 400 patients have already registered. The practice has also recruited two employees and this number looks set to increase as the number of customers continues to rise.

Giffnock Village Dental is the second practice Philip has launched and he will run it alongside Parkview Dental Surgery in Renfrew, which opened in 2008.

Philip said, “With our in-depth experience of running a dental practice, we saw a real opportunity to bring a modern surgery to the Giffnock community. Thanks to Royal Bank of Scotland and Lombard we’ve been able make this a reality and we’re already welcoming patients through our doors.”

Royal Bank of Scotland Relationship Manager, Andrew Scott, said, “Giffnock Village Dental provides an essential service which wasn’t previously available in the local community. We look forward to seeing the practice continue to grow and wish Dr Larmour and his team the best of luck.”
