The Mouth Cancer Foundation, one of the UK’s leading mouth cancer charities is pleased to announce that its 10th annual Mouth Cancer 10KM Awareness Walk that took place on September 19, raised £22,860.85.

The Mouth Cancer 10KM Awareness Walk has been designed to increase awareness and provide vital support for mouth cancer patients, their carers and families.

Last September over 500 people from across the UK travelled to the capital and joined the charity on its mission to spread a message about how important it is to detect mouth cancers early, spot the signs and know the difference. There were medals, t-shirts and goodie bags for everyone who took part.

The incidence of mouth cancer is alarmingly high in the UK making it one of the top ten commonly diagnosed cancers. It affects nearly 8,000 people every year and is estimated that around 60,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer of the mouth within the next decade. Mouth cancer can occur in any part of the mouth, tongue, lips and adjacent areas like throat, salivary glands, pharynx, larynx, sinus and other sites in the head and neck area.
