Developed by Pearson VUE on behalf of the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) Consortium, the body which runs the UKCAT on behalf of 26 universities, the Official UKCAT Practice app allows applicants to test ‘on-the-go’.
The app includes new questions – which have been adapted for mobile – of the Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Decision Analysis and Situational Judgement subtests. At the end of each practice session, candidates can review their answers along with a rationale explaining the correct response. Adding a fun and competitive element, candidates are scored and can share their results with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
Rachel Greatrix, chief operating Officer, UKCAT Consortium, said: “The Official UKCAT Practice App is a significant step forward in the Consortium’s commitment to harnessing new digital platforms to aid candidate preparation. It gives candidates an accessible and fun tool to improve their state of readiness for taking the test.”
Matthew Poyiadgi, managing director EMEA for Pearson VUE, added: “UKCAT candidates join a limited group of test takers who have access to practice test apps. Wherever they are, candidates can test themselves as many times as they wish, and crucially, learn from how they perform.”
The app can also be used in addition to the fully timed practice tests on the UKCAT website (www.ukcat.ac.uk) to help candidates prepare thoroughly. The online practice tests offer a more extensive range of questions to better reflect the actual admissions test.
The Official UKCAT Practice App is available from the Apple Store and will be downloadable for Android devices from July.
