- Professor Trevor Burke – Professor of Dental Primary Care, University of Birmingham School of Dentistry. He graduated from Queens University in Belfast. He worked in general dental practice in Manchester from 1974 to 1996, also working in the Unit of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Manchester. He has authored or co-authored 270 papers in peer reviewed journals and been awarded over 80 research grants. He co-ordinates the work of two practice based research groups (The PREP Panel, with 31 dentists UK wide and BRIDGE, a West Midlands group with 12 dentists). He has been Professor of Primary Dental Care at the University of Birmingham and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry since 2000. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and editorial director of Dental Update.
- Louis Mackenzie – Louis Mackenzie is a general dentist working in Birmingham and is a clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of dentistry and in the postgraduate department at King’s college London. He delivers postgraduate lectures nationally and internationally on direct and indirect restorative techniques and minimally invasive dentistry and runs a series of popular hands-on courses. He is co-founder of dentaljuce.com the online dental CPD library, is a member of the editorial board of Dental Updatejournal and is the head of clinical training at Denplan.
- Tif Qureshi – Tif Qureshi qualified from Kings College London in 1992. He is a partner at Dental Elegance and has been with the practice for 15 years. He has a special interest in minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry. Tif is the UK pioneer and the world’s most experienced clinician of the Inman Aligner. He lectures nationally and internationally on the appliance as a standalone treatment and its ability to facilitate minimal cosmetic dentistry. Tif is on the board of directors of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (www.bacd.com), the UK’s leading academy in cosmetic dentistry. Tif is a member of the British Orthodontic society and the London Dental Fellowship. He is also a director of Straight-talks seminars (www.straight-talks.com).
- Len D’Cruz – Len d’Cruz is a general dental practitioner working in North East London where he runs a five surgery practice committed to training foundation dentists and the team. It is a mixed NHS and private practice. He also works as a dento-legal advisor for Dental Protection and a dental tutor for East of England, Health Education England. In addition to general dentistry Dr D’Cruz offers orthodontic therapy for children and adults. He has completed postgraduate training and as part of that training was attached to the Orthodontic Department at Queens Hospital in Romford. Dr D’Cruz is a member of the British Orthodontic Society. Dr D’Cruz has written two books, Legal Aspects of General Dental Practice (published by Elsevier) and co-authored Understanding NHS Dentistry (Skate Press 2006). He lectures widely in the UK to small groups and large conferences on medico-legal and ethical matters, risk management and dentistry in the NHS.
