As dentists from across the UK arrived in Manchester for their national conference, their trade union and professional body, the British Dental Association (BDA), pledged £5,000 in support of victims of the Manchester Arena attack – with a further £1,000 pledged by the British Dental Industry Association (BDIA).

The BDA’s British Dental Conference and Exhibition has been a regular fixture at Manchester Central since 2012. Organisers decided to press ahead with the event in the wake of Monday’s attacks.

The BDA will be encouraging all delegates and members to support the Manchester Evening News (MEN) We Stand Together fund.

Mick Armstrong, chair of the BDA, said,"We've been so proud to make Manchester home to our national conference, and we just want to do our bit to help our hosts and friends in the aftermath of this horrific attack.

"Quite rightly Manchester has resolved to carry on. Our thoughts are with all the families touched by this atrocity."

All funds raised by the MEN will be donated to the British Red Cross and will support the families of the 22 killed and the 59 people injured in the terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert.
