Launch of new training initiatives to help improve customer experience

mydentist has introduced a new ‘My Time to Shine’ initiative designed to help improve every customer’s experience of dentistry. Dentists will be able to take part in courses on soft skills, such as building rapport with patients. Every area development manager will also run a workshop for their practice team about how to be warm, welcoming and reassuring in all situations.

Mark Jones, academy manager, says, “The Academy offers world class training to mydentist employees, as part of our commitment to developing our people. We believe all of our employees should benefit from training that helps address their specific development needs. We also wanted to launch our ‘My Time to Shine’ programme to ensure that we always help our customers to the best of our abilities.

“People going to the dentist may be in pain, nervous or think they are going to be judged. The way we explain what’s going to happen affects how they feel about the experience. We want them to feel they’re there for positive reasons like looking after their oral health. It’s about helping customers to see us differently and enjoy going to the dentist.”

mydentist has also launched several major internal training programmes. The company are offering a unique training programme for every area development manager and practice manager in the business. The employees will first take part in a workshop to assess their particular development needs so the training team can put together their individual training course. The mydentist Academy is also offering 16 new workshops for dentists. These will range from clinical training to workshops on working smarter and managing diaries.

The Academy seeks to up-skill dentists so they can provide more complex treatments. The Academy also offers courses to dental nurses, hygienists and therapists. Both hands-on and web based teaching methods are available.
