Bradford Council has introduced steps to address concerns about children vaping.
Joanne Dobbs, a councillor for Great Horton, raised the issue at a council meeting. She said, “What work is taking place in Public Health and with partners to educate and prevent young people from taking up vaping?”
According to the Telegraph & Argus, the council’s response said, “Because vapes are a resource to help people stop smoking and we know little about long-term health effects, it is hard to develop convincing messages for young people."
The council had previously announced resources for schools to raise awareness. It plans to use workshops to “gain insight into vaping in Bradford” with a view to sharing its findings.
Looking to the future, the council is “working on a contract for Step 2 to provide awareness around vapes in schools.” It hopes to “develop a local package” specifically tailored for Bradford.
