The partnership has enabled the charity’s dental units to visit new locations across the country. Its volunteer dental professionals provide treatment and oral health programmes for people experiencing homelessness and poverty, survivors of abuse and those at risk of harm.
Oral-B and Dentaid’s partnership, now in its second year, aims to make oral care accessible to all. By taking mobile dental services to locations such as hostels, community centres and projects run by its charity partners, Dentaid is helping break down the practical, emotional and physical barriers that its vulnerable patients often face when accessing dental care.
According to data from the Oral Health Foundation, almost one in three adults have tooth decay, while two million adults travel at least 40 miles to access dental services. The collaboration aims to bridge this gap by bringing dental care directly to those in need.
Through the clinics, Dentaid provides crucial dental services and oral health guidance for people facing homelessness, survivors of abuse, human trafficking and modern-day slavery, cancer patients, fishing communities, refugees and families experiencing poverty.
In 2024, the charity will run around 900 UK charity dental clinics, from the Channel Islands to Scotland and Northern Ireland to Norfolk.
Andy Evans, CEO of Dentaid The Dental Charity, said, "Thanks to our partnership with Oral-B, we've received £188,432 for our outreach dental clinics across the UK. By bringing mobile services to safe and supportive environments, we're giving our patients the best possible chance of seeing a dentist and, as a result, playing our part in helping them move on to a new chapter in their lives."
Georgina Weetch, Oral-B UK and Ireland marketing director, said, “At Oral-B, we believe everyone deserves to have access to oral care support and good oral hygiene. We’re honoured to continue our support to Dentaid The Dental Charity, to help provide dental care to those in the UK that need it most.”
