Sharon joins the BSDHT with the aim of growing membership numbers, streamlining operations and improving the support for existing members.
Sharon brings to the role almost two decades of experience in the oral health industry as she previously held the role of director of operations at the Oral Health Foundation for 17 years.
Helen Minnery, president of the BSDHT, said of the appointment, “We have worked closely with the Oral Health Foundation and Sharon for many years and are delighted that she has agreed to take on the position as director of operations of the BSDHT.
“With her extensive experience, knowledge and background in our industry we are confident that she will help us develop and reach out to ever increasing numbers of our fellow dental hygienists and dental therapists.
“This appointment has been made at an especially important time for the BSDHT as we campaign for the right for dental hygienists and dental therapists to be allowed to supply and administer medicines using the mechanism of exemptions, something which will be key to the future of our wonderful professions.”
Sharon added, “I am incredibly excited to take on this new position at the BSDHT and look forward to working as part of the team to develop the organisation at an important time for the profession.
“I am confident that I can bring to the role an enthusiasm and knowledge to continue and develop the great work that we are doing in the oral health industry and provide an organisation which works best for our members.”
The BSDHT has also announced its new hew headquarters and will now be based out of new offices on Albert Street in Rugby, Warwickshire.
