Sara and her team will be attending all three days of BDIA Dental Showcase, taking place on October 19-21, at the NEC, Birmingham, manning a dedicated CDO zone to enable them to engage with the dental community and will be ready to tackle questions GDPs and DCPs may have regarding dental care in England, workforce development and NHS England provision of services.
In addition to the zone, the CDO will introduce three keynote sessions in the event’s flagship feature, the ‘Practice of the Future’, a purpose built dental practice on the show floor. On Thursday, October 19, Andrew Taylor, head of programme for CDO England, will be addressing the ‘Transformation of the digital landscape’ ; Saturday sees the CDO team focus on ‘Clinical leadership of NHS England commissioning’, educating delegates on engaging with and making the most of LDNs (Local Dental Networks); and, on Thursday and Friday, Sara Hurley will be introducing a presentation to show attendees how to ‘Successfully navigate the NHS England procurement process’. The keynote sessions will be repeated as more intimate plenary sessions on the CDO zone, allowing access for as many dental professionals as possible to this critical information. The speakers will be available throughout the three days to take questions from visitors and discuss the future of dentistry.
A mini-lecture theatre will be located within the CDO zone, featuring a rolling programme of free-to-attend vCPD presentations and workshops, including subjects such as anxiety management, community water fluoridation and dental check by one.
The OCDO will be showcasing some key directives looking to transform dentistry, particularly around digitisation of the practice and sustainability, as more emphasis is placed on green credentials as a future proofing measure. With prevention high on the political and patient agendas and the disappointing statistic that less than a quarter of children under two years of age have received their first dental check , the OCDO will also be highlighting the ‘Starting Well’ programme and how practices can support the ‘Dental check by one’ initiative.
Chief Dental Officer England Sara Hurley said, “My team and I are looking forward to welcoming you to the CDO Zone at the BDIA Dental Showcase at the NEC. In having our own dedicated zone we will be able to spend time engaging with the profession and have the opportunity to discuss the initiatives we are working on to enable GDPs and DCPs to continue delivering excellent oral health care and advice to our patients.”
BDIA Dental Showcase Event Director Ed Wyre said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole dental team to come and learn how policy change within NHS England will have an impact on their practice as we move into a new era of dentistry. We are delighted to be able to provide a forum for debate and knowledge exchange through Dental Showcase, and that Sara Hurley and her team have chosen to support our event and provide insight into the transformation of dental care fit for the 21st century.”
Never before has the CDO England Team been so accessible to the dental profession. This is a unique opportunity to meet with, engage and discuss the issues you see having an impact on modern dentistry with those shaping policy and, ultimately, the way you practice.
