With changes to CPD requirements, an increased awareness of litigation in dentistry and a new NHS contract on the horizon, there’s lots to keep up with at the moment.

Make sure to visit the BDIA Associations’ Pavilion to catch up with the professional body, find out about training and events and discuss the issues that most matter.

British Endodontic Society

New to BDIA Dental Showcase this year, the British Endodontic Society is making its debut. president of the Society, Murray Saunders, explains why they will be attending, “With such a large number of dentists in attendance, BDIA Dental Showcase is the perfect platform for us to catch up with our existing members and meet new ones. We’re looking forward to liaising with delegates to discuss our membership options, promote our professional development and conference opportunities and offer guidance.”

Just a few of the other professional bodies attending BDIA Dental Showcase this year include:

Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM)

ADAM recognises that each and every role is vital to the smooth operation of a busy dental practice. Come and speak to their representatives for advice, support, and guidance for practice managers and all members of the dental administration team.

ADAM is running its own mini-series of seminars on the afternoon of Friday October 10 with guest speakers Tracy Stuart of NBS Training, Julie Rosse of BSDHT and Sarah Buxton of LCF Law. All three will look at key issues from the perspective of a practice manager. Tracy will talk about the many hats PM's need to wear; Julie will cover the implications of Direct Access; and Sarah will discuss some of the legal challenges Practice Managers face.

British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN)

The UK’s only professional association for dental nurses. The BADN stand at R03k will be manned by staff members Pam Swain and Katie Ball, together with president Fiona Ellwood.  Dental nurses are invited to visit the stand to find out about the benefits of BADN membership, join or re-join their professional association, share their views and/or request information and advice on dental nursing subjects.

British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT)

The BSDHT has a strong presence at Showcase. Julie Rosse explains, “Many hygienists and therapists can feel isolated in practice and so welcome the chance to come and network with their peers as well as ask the BSDHT any burning questions they may have.” Hygienists or therapists should visit the BSDHT stand to discuss the profession on a face-to-face level.

British Society of Periodontology

The British Society of Periodontology exists to promote the art and science of periodontology. Their members include specialist practitioners, periodontists, general dentists, consultants and trainees in restorative dentistry, clinical academics, dental hygienists and therapists, specialist trainees in periodontology, and many others.

Many other professional associations will be attending this year’s BDIA Dental Showcase including BACD, DTA and the British Orthodontic Society.
