BAOS Annual Scientific Conference in Belfast

This year at the annual scientific meeting and conference for the British Associated of Oral Surgeons, delegates were treated to a fantastic selection of inspiring, informative and humorous lectures.

Historic Belfast was the backdrop for the conference which took place between the 27th and 29th of September, with everyone enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the City Hall for the formal dinner and presentations. The quality of the open papers was, again, very high with many commendable presentations from the dental core trainees who participated.

Record numbers attended the conference with 500 delegates, including those attending the Nurses Study day. The Europa Hotel hosted the conference with ample space for the many poster presentations and offered opportunities for delegates to engage with the sponsors, including NSK who were the main gold sponsor of the event.

The Titanic was built in the ship yards of Belfast alongside the SS Nomadic. Restored to her former glory, the Nomadic played host to the informal social night which provided a great platform for networking. Unlike the Titanic, the British Association of Oral Surgeons hopes to build on their success in Belfast; returning next year with their conference in Edinburgh, BAOS aim to continue to educate and motivate individuals to be inspirational in their work places.
