A year ago, The British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) held its Virtual Anniversary Afternoon Tea to celebrate our 80th Anniversary. This was such a success, we have held monthly Coffee Catch Ups ever since! However, this month we are doing something slightly different…
August 9-15 is Afternoon Tea Week, and Breast Cancer Now are using this to raise funds by encouraging everyone to hold an afternoon tea. That’s why we are charging £5 per person to attend – all the money raised will go to Breast Cancer Now. There will be a quiz, a name the teddy bear (and other) competitions, and a baking competition – with prizes from Parliament Hill, TRM, CFC, RA Sedation and TePe.
Tea guests can chat with BADN President Jacqui Elsden and other members of the Exec; and with speaker Carole Houston. Carole has been associated with the BADN for a number of years, both through her work as communications lead with the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) and later in a similar role for Horizon, Blackpool council’s drug and alcohol support service when - along with BADN chief executive Pam Swain and the late Janet Goodwin - she helped to organise two highly effective dental outreach days for the homeless and for people with addiction issues.
In May 2019, Carole was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative breast cancer, a rare type of breast cancer that affects around 10-15 per cent of patients. Carole now aims to raise awareness of breast cancer issues, especially Triple Negative breast cancer, so she is delighted to join us for the afternoon tea to speak openly about her treatment, its effect on her dental and mental health, and to answer all your questions.
Join us on August 15, 2021, at 3pm to chat, have some fun, meet other dental nurses and raise funds for Breast Cancer Now. To register, go to https://cutt.ly/AfternoonTeaAug
