The Association of Dental Implantology UK has opened registrations for their 2013 Team Congress. The biennial congress is taking place May 1-3 2013 at the Manchester Central Convention Complex. The increasingly popular event, which is entitled "How long do implants last?" will focus on the complications, risk management and prognosis of implant treatment.

ADI president Prof. Cemal Ucer and the ADIs scientific co-ordinator Eddie Scher have put together an exceptional two-day programme that will appeal to all members of the dental implant team. Prof. Ucer states, “In an era when patient demand and expectations are constantly rising and after nearly three decades of revolutionary research and development, we felt that this would be a highly relevant question to address: what are the real challenges and problems facing us today that affect the success and longevity of implant treatment?”.

The ADI has created its largest and most exciting team programme to date, with parallel sessions of lectures and workshops for dental nurses, practice managers and hygienists and therapists.

Technician delegates will benefit from particularly relevant lectures, such as “The role of the technician in modern interdisciplinary aesthetic implant dentistry….” whilst clinicians will enjoy subjects such as “The influence of systemic and local risk factors on the condition of the implant bed and implant outcomes” and “Are short implants an alternative to complex bone grafting in atrophic patients?”. Delegates will also benefit from the variety of exceptional speakers on offer, both international and from the UK. To name a few: Tomas Albrektsson (Sweden), Nikos Donos (UK) and Christian Coachman (Brazil).

The congress will initially commence with an invitation to submit research on any dental implant related topic at the 2013 ADI Team Congress poster presentation awards. The poster award of £500 will be presented to the winner at the end of the plenary programme. Submissions for this award must be received by January 18 2013.

To unwind after taking advantage of the first day’s educational and networking opportunities, delegates and exhibitors will have the opportunity to experience an evening at the ADI Oscars. The ADI Oscars Bash promises an evening of dinner, drinks and dancing in the sumptuous elegance of the Midland Hotel. Swing band Dominic Halpin and the Honey Bs’ will perform creating a memorable party for the whole team.
