Ken Harris, of Riveredge Cosmetic Dentistry, has been made a fellow of the Faculty of General Dental Practice, FGDP(UK) RCS(Eng), by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
As he already holds a fellowship in the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD), he has achieved a world first, becoming the only person to simultaneously hold both fellowships.
Ken’s new qualification, which recognises skill in general dental practice, was presented at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons at London’s Lincoln’s Inn Fields – and took him 20 years to complete.
“I passed the initial examination, MFGDP(UK), in Manchester, in 1996,” said Ken.
“And, in order to gain the fellowship, my entire career as a dentist has been under scrutiny.
“But it is a superb qualification and, although I work largely in cosmetic dentistry, this is an acknowledgement that I am a real all-rounder, which is what I have been aiming for.”
Ken, who has a world-renowned reputation for his expertise, has won numerous aesthetic dentistry awards and is also a member of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (BAAD).
He regularly teaches USA dentists at the world-renowned Kois Center programme across in Seattle and lectures on aesthetic dentistry to practitioners in New York, Vancouver, San Francisco, Orange County, Fresno and San Diego in his role as the clinical director for the California Center (sic) for Advanced Dental Studies.
As well as re-enforcing his reputation as a provider of general and cosmetic dentistry, his new and existing fellowships will require him to share his knowledge by teaching and instructing other dental practitioners worldwide.
