35-year-old Edinburgh dental practice sold

19 December 2024

Christie & Co has announced the sale of Slateford Dental Care in Edinburgh.

Established 35 years ago by the exiting owner, Robert King, Slateford Dental Care is a predominantly private, six-surgery dental practice located in the heart of Edinburgh.

Following a confidential sales process with Joel Mannix, head of dental at Christie & Co, the practice has been sold to first-time buyer, Christopher Logan, who holds a postgraduate qualification in dental implantology.

Robert said, “I founded the practice over 35 years ago, starting with a single surgery. Since then, I had the opportunity to acquire the adjacent properties, allowing me to expand the practice into six fully operational surgeries. Deciding to sell the practice was not an easy choice but, after much consideration, I felt it was the right time to begin transitioning into retirement. I firmly believe Christopher will continue to provide our loyal patient base with the highest level of care and support, and ensure the continued success of the practice for many years to come.”

Christopher said, “Practice ownership was certainly always a goal of mine, to help empower me to determine my own future and the future of others, with shared goals and ambitions in mind. I believe remaining as a private, independently-owned practice provides clinicians with certainty that, at the heart of the practice, remains an individual driven to ensure all their needs are catered to. I would hope that this also helps with patient confidence in clinicians and the future development of the practice.

“I was fortunate to have worked at Slateford Dental Care for just over five years under the leadership of Robert. Under his guidance, I was able to see ‘behind the scenes’. With this knowledge, I knew the practice was the right fit for me. Well-run and well-managed with an incredibly strong and supportive team at the heart of it. With all six surgeries refurbished within the last four years, I knew that the practice was in excellent condition to buy over. In the near future, we wish to continue to grow as a practice, maintaining high standards clinically, we hope our annual growth of eight to 10 per cent can remain. Clinically, I hope to introduce digital workflows to the practice.”

Joel commented, “It was fantastic to be involved in the sale of Slateford Dental Care. Both Robert and Christopher are deeply committed to patient care and, given that their ethos aligned so well, it made for a seamless transaction. All parties were dedicated to completing this deal in a timely fashion, and I am pleased to say that this transaction was completed in just nine weeks. This is impressive in itself, but considering the size of the transaction, it is even more remarkable. I would like to express my gratitude to all involved for their hard work and dedication. The collaboration and professionalism displayed by everyone were truly commendable. I wish Robert the very best in his retirement, and I am confident that Christopher will continue to excel in his future endeavours. This successful transaction marks a significant milestone, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on patient care.”

Slateford Dental Care was sold for an undisclosed price.
