The British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (BAAD) held its 20th anniversary conference at Stoke Park Country Club, Buckinghamshire, on January 30-31, 2015.

The conference was an inspirational event set in a stunning venue. The world class speakers provided the delegation with a spectrum of lecture topics. The opening session started with Walter Devoto, Mauro Fradeani and Oliver Brix; they discussed composites, complex rehabilitation cases using ceramic restorations and cutting edge laboratory aspects of all ceramic restorations.
The second session covered augmentation techniques with Daniel Thoma and Giovanni Bruschi. They both followed very different approaches to provide impressive bone augmentation, however, the process of their reasoning, literature evidence and follow up of cases justified both methodologies.

The Saturday morning session covered the current status of state of the art CAD/CAM impressions and restorations. Irena Sailer and Alessandro Devigus covered the digital perspectives on this rapidly growing and developing field most eloquently. Mario Semenza then presented the converse situation showing conventional restorative dentistry with wonderful impression and preparation techniques. His incredible level of work and preparation skills wowed the delegates and he was received with a standing ovation at the end of his presentation. Its important to note that conventional techniques utilising impression materials are still held with the highest regard even though digital applications are becoming ever more precise and popular.

The final session was the UK's first showing of 3D videos on periodontal surgery by Giovanni Zucchelli. It is remarkable to observe such beautiful surgery, and to be able to perceive depth of field to further ones understanding of the procedures involved. His charismatic and passionate delivery was fitting end to the last session of the conference.

The social events didn't fail to impress either. Friday night was a 70s themed fancy dress event with some amazing outfits and dance moves on display. There were fun games, which were enjoyed by all with generous prizes provided by our Corporate Friends.  The black tie gala dinner was held on the Saturday evening with a nine piece Rat Pack live band.
It was a truly unforgettable weekend; the feedback from the event was outstanding.

The BAAD experience is a unique one and if you are looking for an exceptional aesthetic academy and want to feel a part of a close group of knowledgeable colleagues and peers then look no further.

Our next annual conference will be held on January 29-30, 2016, at Stoke Park. We also have three study club master classes this year, for further details please visit out website on
