{my}dentist closes practices for all but emergency care

Dental care provider {my}dentist has closed over 650 practices across the UK – treating only urgent cases which do not generate aerosol – in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nyree Whitley, group clinical director for {my}dentist, said, “The safety of our patients and colleagues is our top priority. That’s why we have taken the decision to close all {my}dentist practices for routine dental treatment and advised patients not to attend any booked appointments. Emergency dental treatments are still available at our practices for urgent cases, but only where treatments do not generate aerosol. In the first instance {my}dentist patients who need urgent dental care should contact their practice by phone for advice.

“Clinicians and practice staff across {my}dentist have done an incredible job in supporting patients during this crisis and I am so proud of what they have achieved. Like everyone working in dentistry right now, they are working tirelessly in challenging circumstances, while also supporting their communities through both practical offers of help – for example, by doing the shopping for elderly patients – and by providing moral support for those who are isolating. At the same time, our support centre teams have been working round the clock to give our practices the support they need.”
