Blast from the past hits top spot for orthodontics team
Music mad orthodontic nurses and their dental colleagues relived their past with leg warmers and fluorescent clothes when they took to the dance floor in aid of Cancer UK.
Ten jivers, from St Michaels Orthodontics and Dental practice, joined the Peter Kay Dance For Life at the First Direct Leeds Arena and raised almost £500 cash.
For some it was a blast from their past as they boogied to favourite dance hits from the 80s, such as Wham and Abba, while for the younger team members it was a first chance to savour the disco days of another era.
Carol Walter organised the event as part of the Dewsbury Road team’s annual fund raising for local good causes. She said, “We have never done anything like this to raise funds for our charities each year. We’re all music mad and like keeping fit and decided that dancing the night away would be great fun and motivate us to raise funds for Cancer UK.
“Once we had set up our Just Giving Page we really got in the spirit and raided wardrobes, charity shops and anywhere where we could find clothes from the 70s.
“On the night there were plenty of Village People, Wham look-a-likes all wearing leg warmers and fluorescent clothes.
“We all had a brilliant night and feel better for having raised the cash for Cancer UK.”
